Montana – ‘Monty’ our large chestnut gelding is a firm favourite with our older more experienced riders. A gentle giant who is loved by all.

Monty arrived with Brenda 4 years ago when he was being sold by his previous owner. His yard manager at the time loved him so much he persuaded Monty’s previous owner to sell him to Brenda so he could still see him!

Prior to joining up with Brenda, Monty was competed in many dressage competitions by his yard manager of the time and they were very successful on many occasions.

Since joining the riding school, all those years ago, Monty has settled in well and definitely believes he is ‘top horse’ - many of our riders agree!

Monty’s favourite activity in life, other than eating, drinking and sleeping, is jumping. Although he is a fantastic horse to ride, on the flat, he is most enthusiastic when he is jumping.

Monty has reassured many of our riders who have come to us nervous of jumping and given them ‘the bug’. He takes care of the rider on his back and very rarely refuses even the highest of fences.

Monty is one of our best horses to hack out; he is a very level headed gelding who doesn’t get phased by much.
